Why/how did you start photographing births?
In 2009 I had a successful med-free VBAC birth and I knew I had to become a doula. I had gotten bit by the birthing-bug. In 2010 I became a certified birth doula. Once I bought my first camera, I offered to bring to to births as a part of my doula services. I have since branched out and attend some births as a photographer, some as a doula, and some as both!
Why should I hire a birth photographer?
Lynsey Stone, the original dfw birth photographer, said it perfectly: "Having me at your birth will allow your husband or other friends and family members to spend their time supporting you during this momentous occasion, instead of worrying about trying to capture all of the very important shots of the day- They will be able to enjoy the experience and participate much more if they are not just watching it unfold from behind the viewfinder of your camera."
How many clients do you book per month?
No more than 4.
Traveling to Syracuse is tricky in the winter months (for doulaing or photography) So, I usually take those off... I am more willing to perform my doulaing or photography services at the local hospital- Oswego- during those months.

When should I call you and how long will you stay after the birth?
I like a heads up as soon as anything starts happening.... and then to be updated as things progress. Ideally.... I would arrive around 7cm and would stay until an hour after the birth. It's flexible.
How much do you charge?
Pricing info can be found on the investment tab. All prices are subject to change without notice.
How long after the session do I have to wait for the files?
The contract says I have two weeks to upload them. I usually have them done within a couple of days because I'm excited for you to see them!
Do I have to order prints through you?
Definitely NOT. I will give you rights to print and you may print the photos however you wish.
Are you a professional?
I have no formal photography training. I am a self-taught photographer building my profile.
Will you leave my newly born/ family shoot to shoot a birth?
This situation isn't likely.... but babies/births don't wait. If I have to leave your shoot for a birth, I will happily offer a complimentary session.
